A big part of the fun of creating a blog is the title, although it took a few years to come up with the one that sounded just right. For those who are fans of the shade plant epimedium, you might know of the one called Lilafee. Last spring I was spring cleaning someone’s yard and there was a blooming tree with a carpet of shade perennials underneath. As I moved around the circle weeding, the most charming flowers stopped me in my weeding tracks. They were lavender/pink and white and hung above the foliage like jester’s hats. I had never seen epimedium up close before and here was one in full bloom. The closest one in flower color that I could find at a store was Lilafee – not only a great looking flower but a catchy name. Worthy of a blog title.
