There are plenty of leaves around our neighborhood – so many that if you didn’t have enough in your own yard to rake and compost, another neighbor would be more than happy to share leaves. If you have room in your yard for a compost pile, why not pile up the leaves? So with every good intention, my neighbor, the compulsive gardener, mentioned that it would be a good idea to start a leaf compost pile in a small area of woods in a corner of his backyard after reading a recent post. Then today he told me he raked up the leaves, put them in bags and took them to our town leaf recycling station. What’s up with that?? The woods would be too messy?
