We received a wonderful green gift last week that I had coincidentally just read a magazine article on (I love when that happens) – a dish garden! I was very surprised that there was a tag stuck in the dirt that read: DISH GARDENS.
The tag did not list each plant in the bowl so I am trying to figure them all out. So far I have: maranta or prayer plant (oval leaf with pink veins), pothos (green/white mottled leaf), alocasia (pale green leaf), peace lily or spathiphyllum (dark green and glossy leaf) and some kind of variegated palm frond (I think).
The bowl is great too and the soil is covered in a beautiful moss.
The dish garden just needs to be kept moist so I’ll check the soil once a week. I’m expecting the garden to last a long time and I’m curious to see if the peace lily will surprise us with a white flower someday.
