A month ago I started my fig cutting experiment and when I went to replace the paper towel wrapped over the bottom half of the cuttings, I noticed…..white bumps along each cutting. I wasn’t sure if these were the start of roots so I googled info on fig cuttings and found that the bumps are indeed the start of roots.
This morning I took another peek and this time – an early new year’s surprise – one cutting had grown a root!
Plus, the green leaf buds at the top of each cutting are opening up and there are signs of new green growth just below those as well. Clearly the cuttings are happy in their moist ziploc bag home for now.
